How it Works
If you do not have a Portfolio account you will need to create one. You will not be allowed to create an account unless you are an approved Communication Major. That means that you have filled out the form that says you want to get your degree in communication.
If you are a Major (or if you don't know whether you are an approved major) then you can click on the Register link on the right side of the screen and (try to) create an account. You will be asked a few questions in order to create a user profile of you and then your account will be created. It is that simple!
After you have an account you can upload files to it. When you click on the Login link you will be taken to a login screen where you need to type in your username and password for your Portfolio account.
Upon successful login you will be taken to a "Control Panel" page. On this page you will be given a menu with the following options: Academic Advising, Career Assessment, Career Presentation, Personal Resume, Cover Letter. You can click on any of these and you will be given a form that will allow you to upload files relevent to the menu categories. No special formatting is needed. You just have to make sure that the files you want to upload are on the disk or flash drive on which you created them. Most likely, you will have files created in Microsoft Word (with a .doc extension) or PowerPoint (with a .ppt extension), but you can upload files in any format.
When the time comes for you to update a file that you have created, then you login to the Portfolio Portal and download a file or files that you have previously uploaded. Make whatever changes you would like to make to the files and then upload it/them again. No files are erased, so when you upload a newer version of a file the older version will still be available to you. If you want to delete previous versions of files, you will be able to do that as well.
That is it. Your files will be stored on the Portfolio server and you can access them whenever and wherever you would like.
